Press release – 4th November 2004 Animal Rescue and Care (ARC) has played a part in the rescue of a group which were in excess of 100 guinea pigs which were found living loose in a house by the RSPCA. Despite being a small organisation already caring for lots of other homeless animals and having taken in a group of 22 guinea pigs a few weeks earlier ARC took in 27 of these neglected animals. Having lived in mixed sex groups the females were unable to be immediatly rehomed. A total of 3 babies so far have been born to this group whilst in the care of ARC. The guinea pigs who all seemed to be malnourished and suffering from a skin condition were accomodated between a number of small local charities in Essex, Middlesex and Surrey. They have all been treated for their skin conditions and are happily putting on weight. These have all now found nice new homes to go to and are all starting a new life. |
