A.R.C. ANIMAL RESCUE AND CARE IS A VOLUNTARY ANIMAL WELFARE CHARITY BASED IN THE BOROUGH
OF RICHMOND AND SURROUNDING AREAS. OUR MAIN AIM IS TO RESCUE, RE-HOME AND ASSIST LOCAL ANIMALS IN NEED.
-
ARC was founded in December 2001 by a dedicated team of volunteers with many years experience in the
field of animal welfare. ARC has continued to develop in to a successful charity; assisting and re-homing
nearly 400 homeless, unwanted and neglected animals in the first two years.
-
At ARC our priority is to rescue, foster, re-home and assist all types of animals, while also offering
advice, information and raising public awareness about animal welfare. Particular emphasis is placed on
the important issue of neutering, which is fundamental in reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned
pets and controlling the spread of animal diseases.
-
All the animals that come in to ARC are looked after in private foster homes by loving, experienced carers.
They receive plenty of 'TLC' and any veterinary care that they require, including neutering in the majority
of cases. Some of the animals that come to us have been sadly neglected and are in particular need of special
care.
-
Many of the rescued animals are simply abandoned or unwanted but there are some whose devoted owners find
themselves unable to keep their beloved pets, through no fault of their own. If we are unable to take animals
indirectly, we can assist with finding good homes or offering advice and information.
-
At ARC, we work hard to find loving, permanent homes that suit the needs of each individual animal. We publish
regular re-homing posters and have our own website. We also liaise with local vets and other rescue organisations,
carefully assessing all prospective new homes.
-
At ARC, we do not destroy animals unless they are suffering or their quality of life is clearly unsatisfactory.
We do not believe in confining cats or dogs in cages or keeping stray or feral cats against their will (unless
for medical or socialising reasons and only very short-term).
-
Our time, care and compassion are free but the financial cost of veterinary care, food, supplies and equipment
are great and much time is spent raising essential funds to support the never-ending rescue work. We welcome
offers of help with fundraising, transport, home visits and of course, donations are always gratefully
received! Above all, we are always looking for new foster carers and loving homes for the many homeless animals.
