OBJECT 1
To offer assistance and advice regarding the welfare of animals, particularly those who are unwanted or homeless.
HOW
- Operation of two/three published phone lines and corresponding email addresses to manage enquiries from the public.
- Website offering general information about ARC Animal Rescue & Care and covering all aspects of animal welfare, including publicising animals for adoption and links to other related sites.
- Publication and distribution of leaflets offering information and advice about different aspects of animal welfare and care.
- Rescue of animals in distress, where practicable.
- Provision of transport for animals, supplies and other aspects of welfare work.
- Provision and maintenance of caring foster homes.
- Provision of necessary veterinary treatment.
- Provision of funds, through fund-raising activities such as, charity fairs, car boot sales, collecting tins, grant applications and donations.
OBJECT 2
To provide foster care and veterinary treatment where appropriate and to find suitable, permanent homes for each animal.
HOW
- Carefully select foster homes that meet the requirements defined in our guidelines regarding fostering and animal care.
- Ensure that foster homes are well advised, supported and maintained and that the needs of the animals in their care are met.
- Produce posters detailing animals available for adoption and distribute them to local veterinary practices and other pet related establishments.
- Publicise details of animals available for adoption on the ARC Animal Rescue & Care website.
- Foster good relations with a network of local veterinary practices and other pet related establishments.
- Co-operate and interact with other animal welfare related organisations.
- Visit potential homes to assess suitability for adoption and offer advice and information about animal care.
- Obtain veterinary references from potential homes where personal visits are not possible.
OBJECT 3
To promote responsible pet ownership; informing the public about all aspects of animal welfare and care.
HOW
- Publish and distribute information leaflets, covering various aspects of animal care and health issues.
- Display information relating to all aspects of animal welfare, on our website and link to other related sites.
- Give advice and information about animal care and provide relevant leaflets during the course of adoption home visits.
- Keep our selves informed about new developments in animal welfare.
- Give information talks where invited; for example at local scout groups.
OBJECT 4
To educate the public about the importance of neutering and to spay and castrate animals in our care, where appropriate.
HOW
- Publish and distribute relevant leaflets; giving information about all aspects of neutering, including its role in society and the welfare of animals.
- Place information regarding neutering, on our website and link to other relevant sites.
- Give information and provide leaflets about neutering, during the course of adoption home visits.
- Ensure that neutering is carried out by new owners of kittens/puppies and other young animals, where appropriate; by a written declaration at time of adoption.
- Ensure that adult animals are spayed and castrated where appropriate, by a veterinary surgeon and paid for by ARC.
